Blame The Weather...

Hi folks...woohoo...Summer seems to have arrived in the UK...I hope I'm not putting a jinx on what is supposed to be a gloriously sunny "hitting 30 degrees" weekend by sharing a "Rainy Days" card made with the super cute "Cool Panda" Stamp Set...
from Simon Says Stamp latest release "Cherished"...you can check out all the beautiful stamps...dies and gorgeous stencils HERE.
I'm not really a cutesy stamp crafter but I have always loved pandas...they are just the cutest round furry bundles and who wouldn't fall in love with this little guy and his adorable face...
and I seemed to be on a crafty roll...right on track with Card No 2
until I stepped outside for a mid morning snack while the watercolour background dried. No way could we persuade ourselves to head back indoors so the Cubbyhole CEO took an executive decision to halt the card production line for the rest of the day in favour of topping up the Vitamin D...
and a little outdoor painting session with the next pile of storage boxes...
another job ticked off the crafty list...not the one I'd planned but who's counting...
and of course it's Friday...no crafting...no DIY...instead I'm looking forward to a magical mystery tour around the countryside with the Friday Girls...coffee...lunch and lots of chit chat. Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I'll see you all on Monday with my DT project for a brand new challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...you still have time to join in this week's "Little Critters" Challenge with the chance to win a $50 spending spree and the lucky winner could be popping some of the new release products into their shopping cart.

The Camera Doesn't Lie !!!

Hi everyone...thank you for all your kind comments here and on Facebook about the cubbyhole make-over...I have to say I was tickled by some of the comments that it all looked so tidy...well they do say the camera doesn't lie but that certainly isn't true...with some careful photo editing and a little cropping here and there it's easy to conjure up a false impression...it just so happens I chose not to photograph the DIY supplies and messy painting supplies still strewn about the room...
Tidy crafter I am not but I will admit to being a bit of a TIDY freak when it comes to storing my craft supplies...a place for everything and everything in it's place...makes life so much easier and I've been struggling with my crafty stash being here there and everywhere so yesterday I used those feminine powers of persuasion to convince hubby to empty bookcase No 1...give it a clean down...move it back to it's rightful home and fill it up again. And he knows me so well...he actually took a photo of the contents so that everything would be replaced correctly...
 ONE down...TWO still to go...
and before he could escape...I persuaded him to give the previously Kraft coloured stamp storage folders a matching coat of Chic Shadow emulsion...
In the meantime...with one eye on the reluctant painter...I cracked on with Magazine Commission No 1 which happily is now in the bag. Sometimes it comes together like magic...sometimes it's a bit of an "all round the houses" affair and this was one of those occasions which means there's a pile of discarded backgrounds...not right for this particular project but too pretty to throw away...
and I will be making them into cards soon but I have a reputation to uphold so first job of the day will be to TIDY this little lot away...
and suss out how hubby feels about moving Bookcase No 2...cover your ears...just saying.

Back To The Crafty Day Job...

Hi folks...it's been a bit of a juggling balls and spinning plates kind of a weekend for the cubbyhole crew starting off with unpacking the 22 box delivery from Ikea...
the unpacking took way longer than the actual construction and I now have enough corrugated cardboard to last me for the rest of my life...
but when it comes to flat pack....Ikea units are the creme de la creme...they are so easy to put together and I even managed the last one single handedly when hubby took time out to have a cuppa and my Furry companion decided he'd had enough of construction for one day and sneaked off for an afternoon snooze.
but Rome certainly wasn't built in a day and this particular project is far from completion...there's still a pile of door and drawer inserts to tackle...
the bookcase wall to move back in from it's temporary home in the kitchen...
and get the worktops fitted when hunky joiner who has just become a Dad for the second time returns from his 2 weeks off  "bonding with new baby" paternity leave. In the meantime...we're making do with our temporary cardboard work surfaces and happy that we're back to working in a 50% functional clean and bright crafty space instead of a grotty building site...
and I have to admit...I'm grateful for a little breathing space before we contemplate the most daunting task of all...moving the rest of the crafty stash back in and deciding what's going where.
In the meantime...it's back to the crafty day job to catch up with a list as long as my arm...nailing magazine commissions...having fun with the gorgeous June Card Kit and a fabulous new release from Simon Says Stamp and fingers crossed...if the aforementioned all goes according to plan...some much needed "sitting at the kitchen table with a cuppa" relaxing playtime with another yummy parcel of Assemblage...
Have fun whatever you have planned this week

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
LITTLE CRITTERS
if you follow my blog you'll know I'm currently in the midst of a big renovation of the crafty space we call the Cubbyhole and with my supplies stored hither and thither throughout the house I needed to find a quick "grab what I could find" solution for my project for this week's challenge and this bundle of Dylusions goodies just happened to be at hand.
all the supplies I needed to get creative with my Dylusions Creative Dyary Planner Journal and keep me on track with the renovation.
I chose one of the preprinted/ready to colour pages featuring super cute chirpy chirpy cheep cheep little critters...
and looked out my palette of Distress Oxide Reinkers and Ranger Detailer Brush to watercolor the right hand page...

then created a colourful wash background using Ranger's Broad Brush on the opposite page...
adding Dyary Stickers...Stick It's and using the stamps for the dates...

Things are ticking along...

Hi folks...things are tickling along with the cubbyhole renovation...once the plaster had dried it was time to don my painting and decorating hat...arm myself with a tray of 2 parts paint/1 part water and get stuck in to priming the walls ready for painting proper...
and as per usual I ended up with a coat of perfect splatters all over my hands...my face...my clothes and my hair...
but before I headed for the shower and bed...I couldn't resist a test patch of the new cubbyhole colour...Chic Shadow from Dulux which on reflection wasn't a great idea because I spent a restless night thinking it was going to be too dark...
but as luck would have it...it's perfect...just the colour I had imagined...a lovely soft charcoal grey which will compliment the white units and wood effect workshops...don't you just love when a plan comes together...
and just as I finished the first coat of my new "One Shade of Grey/49 To Go" Cubbyhole...two of my favourite crafty chums paid a surprise visit with cake...
there is no better way to end a busy day than spending time with special friends. Today I'll be back on the crafty production line...temporary located in the kitchen...to finish off my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...
with my crafty stash strewn hither and thither throughout the house and garage...it turned out to be one those "grab whatever you can find" flying by the seat of my pants projects and the sentiment says it all...
Have a great weekend everyone whatever you have planned and I'll see you all on Monday.
